Imagine being left behind. For six months. No potty breaks, no petting, no loving hands. Imagine that once you were totally loved and cared for and living in your own wonderful, dog-friendly house. Then imagine your mom gets sick. And she starts forgetting things, like feeding you, or where she lives. And then, people come and take her away from you. And nobody comes to get you. You wonder when she's coming back, and you call to her, but she can't hear you. And imagine that you remember what it was like to be loved and cherished and cared for. And it breaks your heart.

Cheyenne's mom was hospilized and then was sent to live with relatives. Cheyenne was left behind. Her caretaker came several times a week to give her food and water, but because there was a hole in the fence in the backyard, she never let Cheyenne out. Gradually, the family came and got the furniture and clothes, but nobody came for Cheyenne. Trash piled up. Cheyenne got bored, scared, and desperately lonely.

She spent six months in the abandned house, and then her caretaker got sick and asked volunteers fromTomball SOS to take care of Cheyenne. Her condition was so compelling, so heartbreaking, so horrific, that after a few visits, the volunteers took her to a boarding facility.

The family relinquished her, but now she needs a home. She can't stay in a boarding kennel forever. But for now, she's happy, healthy, and loving her interaction with other dogs.

Imagine having friends again. Imagine knowing a kind hand again, having regular meals, knowing your water bow will always be full. Imagine knowing that you are cared for and loved again.

But Cheyenne can't stay where she is forever. She was rescued by folks who are cat rescuers, and that's not a wonderful situation for a dog that chases cats. She needs her own home. She would love if her own home had another dog for her to play with. And she loves being with her people, and being able to flop on the floor or sofa by them for a quick nap.

Would you like to meet this loving loving girl? Would you like to toss around a frisbee or get a few sweet doggy kisses? Go to her webpage at www.tomballsos.org and under her photo, click the adoption link to go to the online application.

NOTE: Because Tomball SOS is primarily a cat rescue, the application is not pertinent for dogs. Please do your best and we will complete the adoption when we schedule a meeting.
